UPDATE 12/3/2008 11:29 am: We just posted an article entitled Why the President needs to be a “natural born citizen”. This should help answer some of the questions as to the importance of this matter.

This coming Friday, the Supreme Court will review in conference the case filed by Leo Donofrio citing questions over Obama’s citizenship. As you may know, conferences are private meetings in which the justices review cases and decide which ones to accept for formal review. This conference (Dec. 5) is just 10 days before the Electoral College is scheduled to meet to make formal the election of Obama as the nation’s next president.

Though the mainstream media has failed to cover this issue, there has been a growing trickle of articles. The best so far is an article in The Bulletin (Philadelphia) today by John Connolly. Mr. Connolly interviewed constitutional lawyer Edwin Vieira regarding this case and here is an excerpt…

“Let’s assume he wasn’t born in the U.S.,” Mr. Vieira told The Bulletin. “What’s the consequence? He will not be eligible. That means he cannot be elected validly. The people and the Electoral College cannot overcome this and the House of Representatives can’t make him president. So what’s the next step? He takes the oath of office, and assuming he’s aware he’s not a citizen, then it’s a perjured oath.”

Any appointments made by an ineligible president would have to be recalled, and their decisions would be invalidated.

“He may have nominated people to different positions; he may have nominated people to the judicial branch, who may have been confirmed, they may have gone out on executive duty and done various things,” said Mr. Vieira. “The people that he’s put into the judicial branch may have decided cases, and all of that needs to be unzipped.”

Mr. Vieira said Obama supporters should be the ones concerned about the case, because Mr. Obama’s platform would be discredited it he were forced to step down from the presidency later due to his ineligibility, were it to be discovered.

Every time I hear about this I can’t help but wonder…if there were anything to this, wouldn’t the Republicans been all over it? I cannot see McCain letting it slide if there was one shred of truth to it, he and the Republican party would have been all over it. Yet he never uttered one word about Obama’s citizenship that I have ever read or heard. Surely such a revelation could have won him the election.

Who cares if Obama was not born in the U.S. ???? Could he possibly do any worse in office than has been done by the “valid” Americans, especially the most recent one? What will the “Sore Losers” in DC try next to keep their cronies in power? Those who are trying to disqualify Obama are probably some of the same sorry morons who are trying desperately to grant voting rights to fifteen million Mexican immigrants who entered our country illegally and are therefore technically fugitive felons. Yet, most Americans (approximately eight million)
who have had felony convictions cannot regain their voting rights. WHAT’S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE??????

Doesn’t Obama know where he was born? I assume that if he takes the oath under false pretense, of course, he would be thrown out of office - as he should be. Obama should never have run for President if he knew he was not born here. Didn’t his grandmother know where he was born? Are people suggesting that Obama is lying and that he was not born here?

All of this should have been taken care of before the election. I believe the DNC actually felt he would be a good candidate, HOWEVER, since the election and how he wants to undo everything Bush has done, the fact the Russians are lining their Naval forces up to “test” Obama, the real triuth about him is finally reared it’s ugly head.

The main problem was this became a racial election and a sex election. One was Black, a first black President and the other, a woman, who’s husband, Bill Clinton was a past President.

Two weeks ago they said she would be better left as New York’s US Senator, albeit a Jr. Senator, who is good at raising funds for the Democratic Party. Now they are saying just the opposite. With her being a Jr. Senator, it will be a long time before she would even be eligible to head a Senate Committee, and with her husband all of a sudden deciding to show who donated to his Global World Committee, but as you and I know, he can put anyone’s name down along with their purported funds donated. It’s turning into a circus that should have been stopped when he put his n the ring.

What isw happening, he is now coming out with information where he misled all Americans, making this a comedy of errors, only it isn’t funny anymore. I believe he is letting his true colors show through and like me, many Americans, including many who voted for him, are getting frightened by the man.

My son was born of two US citizens, one in the US Navy, and he was born in Japan and when we had to register his birth at the US Embassy and obtain his own US Passport, we were informed there were two things he could never do, in spite of being born to two US born American citizens. One was he could never run for President because he was not considered a “Natural Born Citizen” and that he could never obtain either a FCC or FAA License. We were supposed to even obtain what is called a “Certificate of Citizenship” which we never did. When he joined the Army, they obtained it for him, and I have NEVER heard that Obama ever had one.

What muddied the waters in this race, is McCain was also born out of the US to a US Naval Officer and his Mother was also a US born American Citizen. Actually neither one of them being born in the US, caused attorneys to make a decision that as far as I am concerned was illegal. What if my son had wanted to go into Politics? He had always known by being born in Japan in a US Military hospital, he could never run for the American Presidency. He didn’t even obtain his Certificate of Citizenship until he joined the Army.

This election was also one of the biggest farces in US history. Because the Democratic Party and Obama was so successful at raising money for his bid amd by getting so many under 30, blacks and hispanics who know little if anything about American Politics,so thanks to hundres of thousands of blacks who wanted to see a black man in the White House, whoHite House, but not realizing Obama dodged every question asked about his stand on abortion, stem cell research, not to mention if he would be the right man to answer the phone when it rings at 3 AM saying the US is being attacked.

Please God, see that they find he was illegally elected. The problem is, the same goes for McCain, so who runs the Country, Nancy Pelosi??

Just because someone brings it to the Supreme Court doesn’t mean there is any Validity to the accusation. 1: Were I to have the money I could bring the organization behind this to Court for defamation of Obama’s character.

Obama has on five different occasions publically addressed this issue and it was investigated by every major news network out there, INCLUDING the highly Republican Fox News Network. Every single Network proclaimed this to be a fraudulent charge. CNN went as far as to declare the Certificate 100% Legitamate. I will tell you now that the Supreme Court will spend exactly thirty minutes laughing at the rediculousness of these people perpetrating this constant attack on Obama.

Here is a clue. Obama is Elected by the American people by the highest margin since Regan. He is well liked by Republicans and Democrats alike and in a very tricky time of transition, no one, not Republicans or Democrats or the Supreme Court would want to further destabilize a Country by sending the U.S further into chaos. Our Economic times alone will dictate the Supreme Court into dismissing this case.

I’m astonished at the incredible lack of Political intelligence these people demonstrate. In fact, make that lack of intellect in general. The next 8 years will be strictly Democratic Policy and for the first time in 8 years we’ll have someone capable leading our Country. Go cry to your republican buddies. This Election is in the History books to stay.

I am not quite sure what is going to happen to our country at this point. I do believe things are going to get MUCH worse, before they can get better. What I’m confused about is why we aren’t more focused on the state of things and trying to start making a difference. EVERYONE should focus on what we can improve on and change for the better,
using whomever is at the healm as an instrument of change. Let’s FOCUS people!

People really came together to vote Obama in, and yes many of the new voters don’t know alot about politics……..true. However we all understand hope and coming together as a people or he would not have been elected.

If you are born to a United States citizen the you are a US Citizen born on us soil or not. I am not seeing ONE SINGLE response to the question of why this was not settled during the election. Why did McCain never say anything about this? CNN and Fox News and every other media group has been all over this. CNN has gone as far as to declare Obama’s birth certificate to be 100% valid. Another fact that puts the lie to ALL of the accusations against Obama is that the FBI never saw fit to investigate him. The FBI takes these things VERY seriously, folks, and they have nothing to do all day but investigate crimes. They do prefer to investigate REAL crimes, however, not just Sean Hannity’s fantasies. Barack Obama was born in Hawaii.

I just became a US citizen this spring but have lived in America since 1992. I can’t believe how uneducated you people are about your own constitution. As a US citizen I can now petition to have a relative from my home country become a US citizen. Why didn’t Obama do this for his aunt in Boston if he really is a US citizen? If he has nothing to hide why doesn’t he show his original birth certificate? It is apparent the US education system is totally disfunctional if it is proven that Obama was ineligible to run for POTUS.

The original lawsuit was filed by Phillip J. Berg, former Asst. Attorney General of Pa.
He is a member of the NAACP, a liberal and a supporter of Hillary Clinton.
The suit was filed on Aug. 21 08. It was not done without evidence!
I have actually heard Obama’s paternal grand mother in Keya stating she was a WITNESS to his birth in KENYA!!!
You cannot even be a NATURALIZED citizen and become President! period!!!!
Even his records at Harvard have been sealed( when you apply you must state CITIZENSHIP)

Alright, this is completely ridiculous. This issue popped up frequently over the last two years and has been thoroughly scrutinized and found to be without any merit whatsoever. This is old, old stuff. Do you sore losers really believe that the circumstances of his birth would not be completely analyzed BEFORE the election? I can understand why you all would pause to wonder if your party wasn’t smart enough to make it an issue before the election, but believe me, they did, and it’s not.

If the proof of his HAWAIIAN birth is available, WHY was it not brought forward when requested??

Well, we elected a draft dodger (i didn’t inhale, but Monica did, but not very good) AWOL from the National Guard twice for both of them. How come Bush didn’t show his proper I.D.? I really hope that the birth certificate is genuine so as to put this to rest but too many improper moves have been made to evade the subject including lack of media interest for some strange reason. Did you also have the feeling that P.T. Barnum and Col. Tom Parker were behind this election????????? p.s. If we don’t respect and adhere to the Constitution strictly then we have not respect for anything. Thus, if Obama isn’t legally and lawfully qualified to be president he should be removed and the electoral college should pick our next president. That can be anyone. Not necessarily someone who ran for the office.

Similarly, the Constitution bars Hillary Clinton from being Sect. of State due to emoluments. Obama’s total disregard of the law is frightening and the first stages of fascism.

It is true that for a person to be president they must be a natural born citizen. It was a question years ago when Mitt Romney’s father George was a presidential hopeful that he was not born in the United States. However, he was a natural born citizen in that his parents were American citizens who were working in, if I remember right, Mexico. So, it was deemed that George was eligible. Now with this business of President Elect Obama, there was a statement from the governor of Hawaii that President elect Obama was indeed born in 1961 in Hawaii, which has been a state since 1959.

In light of the natural born citizen rule, I think we should do what the Catholics do when they decanonize a saint. Since our first 9 presidents were not natural born American citizens but British colonial citizens we should officially remove them from office posthumously and every law they signed and decree they made should become invalid. We’ll have to give the Louisiana territory back to the French. The Monroe doctrine should become invalid, which means the Russians can put the missiles back in Cuba. And this is just for starters. The statues of Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Quincy Adams, Jackson, Van Buren, and Harrison, all should be removed from public display. Also, their names should be struck from public buildings. There, I feel better now that we have purged these foreigners from places of honor.

One more thing, John Tyler, Jr. was born in 1790 which makes him the first true natural born American citizen. Washington D.C should be renamed Tyler, Jr. D.C. and Washington State will have to be renamed after Junior.

The Washington mounment can now be sold to Sony, Lincoln Memorial to Halliburton, and Jefferson Memorial to InBev.

Let’s not forget that John McCain was born in Panama!!! We can’t be certain that his birth certificate is legitimate either considering the power his father had in the Navy while stationed in Panama. Who’s to say that he wasn’t born at home or on the way to the base hospital (which is presumably US soil). By the way, I’ve never heard of “The Bulletin” and I’ve spent a considerable amount of time in Philadelphia. The Obama birth certificate was certified during the election by both the governor and secretary of state of Hawaii…the only way to invalidate that is to have a clear photograph of his mother’s face while being able to see him pop out in a thatch hut in Kenya. That’s what “The Bulletin” is suggesting? Here’s a better idea, if you really dislike the guy so much, then maybe you should start your own campaign and run for office.

As far as McCain being born out of the country, he was born at a U.S. military base to 2 U.S. citizens, which is considered U.S. soil, the same as an embassy. That is the difference.

The Constitution is clear on this issue, however, there are those who asset, if a person is born outside of America and at least one of the parents is an American, the person born is a natural born citizen. President-elect Obama is eligible to be President of the United States.

Why are we so concerned with due diligence? I would think that it is our duty as US citizens to support the validation of the President Elect regardless of party affiliation. I have had my concerns with both candidates but have had more reservations concerning Obama. There has been a tremendous amount of information being sequestered concerning Obama and feel that people are reacting purely on emotion rather than logic. I am not arguing that McCain is a better person or candidate, but I do feel much more confortable with someone with a documented history and more tangible credentioals.

Regardless of the outcome, we do need to support our President and be proud of being Americans.

I couldn’t sign my daughter for soccer until I proved her age. I had go on the internet to get Texas to send her birth certificate. It wasn’t that hard to do.

If the question hasn’t been resolved yet, and the lawsuit is valid enough to be reviewed by the highest court, then I ask the question, why hasn’t Obama addressed the issue?
The legal implications are huge. It doesn’t matter about his color. (being black was one of the only things I liked about the guy). If you think George Bush is a lame duck, imagine Obama’s credibility as fraudulent world leader. This issue needs to be addressed before he takes office.

This should have been investigated long before he ever became the president elect. It does matter if he is a citizen or not, because other wise what is our constitution for? Toilet Paper?? If he does produce his original, long form Birth Certificate and the SC decides he’s Constitutionally eligible, fine, however if they find he is ineligible per the US Constitution then some heads at the DNC should roll and he personally should be prosecuted for fraud along with various DNC officials. The effort of a few to remove Barrak Obama from the presidency is a futile political attempt to win an election for those who would not have won it otherwise. The Hawaii state officials have reviewed Obama’s birth certificate and have found it valid and protected by the state and federal privacy laws which the state is abiding by. These state officials are bound by the law. To counter that for political purposes would in fact, make them conspirators who could be crimanaly punished. Besides, the health department that houses individual birth certificates is administered by a Republican governor’s designee.

That should be proof enough. President-elect Obama could show the public proof of his birth in Hawaii, but the state has already done what these political antagonists want. If this was a problem, the folks that approved his passport would have spoken up by now. Doesn’t everyone who gets a U.S. passport have to prove his birth? He apparently did. He’s got one!

If we followed the Constitution “to the letter,” George Bush and Henry Kissinger would be standing in front of the World Court to answer for war crimes, along with many others, and Bush and many other Presidents could be or could have been impeached for violation of their Oath of Office: “I swear to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America…” The Constitution states clearly that “treaties have the force of law…” Therefore, when a President violates the UN Treaty by invading a country against the wishes of the UN, he is in violation of a lawful treaty. To make it clear, I doubt the dreams of the most rabid detractors will be found to be real when the original vault document of BHO’s birth is produced, but we are here because it has yet to be produced. My expectation is that there is something on that vault certificate that may have been embarrassing and could have influenced the vote, but there is only speculation that it would be a constitutional issue.

Two different hospitals in Honolulu have been identified as his birthplace by family members. Best case for Obama is that a doctor at one of them signed his certificate. Worst case for Obama is that it was a signed declaration by his mother some time after the birth declaring Honolulu as his birthplace, which will feed into increased speculation that the statements attributed to his Kenyan grandmother were correct, and she was present at his birth in Kenya. As the law would not have granted Obama natural born citizenship at the time due to his mothers age and the citizenship of his father, that law would then be judged.

To “Cliff”, first, I am not now nor have I ever been a Republican. Second, the certificate made public by the Obama campaign is not a facsimile of the stored original, it is an interpretation of the original in their computer records and printed out. It is legal for determining citizenship and you could probably get a passport with that record, but even your local Social Security prefers originals.

My first wife died young, our son was only 12, and my son and I went to the SS office for the interview for survivor’s benefits. The SS official gushed over our original documents, from the 50’s for my wife and I, and ’80’s for our son. Certified copies of the originals, dating from the initial filing. That, I was told, was the gold standard for the Social Security Administration. It meant they probably wouldn’t do additional checking.

I think birth documents of Presidents should have at least the scrutiny given Social Security benefits recipients, don’t you?

I did not vote for him, realizing he would win, and I would move on with life. But this is downright scary. Why is there no coverage of this in the media? I’m sure it would be of interest to any citizen that his qualifications are being questioned in the supreme court. If the court decides to pursue will the media ignore that as well? If this were the aweful Goerge Bush, would not Chris Mathews and the like be all over this?????

It looks like he is playing a waiting game…if he gets past the electoral college, i think it would be up to the senate to take action..oops, 58-42 margin there…The net result being that a man would have snaked his way into the highest office of the land, and would have control of our nuclear arsenal Jan 20th, PM.

You all are idiots. If Obama’s mother is a US citizen (which she was), then he could be born anywhere and he is a US citizen. You all are confusing the words “natural born”. You cannot be a naturalized citizen (ie a citizen of somewhere else who becomes a citizen through the naturalization process) and be president. However, Obama is as much a citizen as anyone who was born in the US in the eyes of the law, even if he was born on Mars. But…. he was born in Hawaii…. so the whole thing is a non issue.

I thought I’d check the actual US Constitution to see what it said about “Natural Born Citizens” or “Citizens at Birth”.
The following was taken from the “Constitution Online” 14th Amendment and Title 8 Section 1401 of the US Code:

Who is a natural-born citizen? Who, in other words, is a citizen at birth, such that that person can be a President someday?

The 14th Amendment defines citizenship this way: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.” But even this does not get specific enough. As usual, the Constitution provides the framework for the law, but it is the law that fills in the gaps.

Currently, Title 8 of the U.S. Code fills in those gaps. Section 1401 defines the following as people who are “citizens of the United States at birth:”

1. Anyone born inside the United States
2. Any Indian or Eskimo born in the United States, provided being a citizen of the U.S. does not impair the person’s status as a citizen of the tribe
3. Any one born outside the United States, both of whose parents are citizens of the U.S., as long as one parent has lived in the U.S.
4. Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year and the other parent is a U.S. national
5. Any one born in a U.S. possession, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year
6. Any one found in the U.S. under the age of five, whose parentage cannot be determined, as long as proof of non-citizenship is not provided by age 21
7. Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time)
8. A final, historical condition: a person born before 5/24/1934 of an alien father and a U.S. citizen mother who has lived in the U.S.

From reading this Obama is a Natural Born Citizen through # 1 and even under #7 if people insist he wasn’t born in Hawaii. John McCain is a Natural Born Citizen through # 3.

The group that is pursuing this case should be sued for the amount of money it is costing this Friday for the Supreme Court to have to review it. There are three reasons that I am sure Obama was born in Hawaii (and I live in Honolulu myself). 1. Hawaii Government Health Department officials have gone on the local news and made more national statements that they swear they have his birth certificate and it is valid with official seal and that he was definitely born in Hawaii. I do not believe these government officials are liars. 2. Obama has a current passport (remember that he went to Europe last early summer?) and you just can not get one without a valid birth certificate (you go try it if you don’t believe me). The short form of Hawaiian birth certificate is official and the only thing they will issue you when you request one. 3. Fact Check.com did review this case and personally saw his birth certificate at the Democratic Headquarters in Chicago and says he was definitely born in the USA. We conclude that it meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship. Claims that the document lacks a raised seal or a signature are false. We have posted high-resolution photographs of the document as “supporting documents” to this article. Our conclusion: Obama was born in the U.S.A. just as he has always said.

Update, Nov. 1: The director of Hawaii’s Department of Health confirmed Oct. 31 that Obama was born in Honolulu.
Analysis
Update Nov. 1: The Associated Press quoted Chiyome Fukino as saying that both she and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have personally verified that the health department holds Obama’s original birth certificate.

Fukino also was quoted by several other news organizations. The Honolulu Advertiser quoted Fukino as saying the agency had been bombarded by requests, and that the registrar of statistics had even been called in at home in the middle of the night.

Honolulu Advertiser, Nov. 1 2008: “This has gotten ridiculous,” state health director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said yesterday. “There are plenty of other, important things to focus on, like the economy, taxes, energy.” . . . Will this be enough to quiet the doubters? “I hope so,” Fukino said. “We need to get some work done.”

Fukino said she has “personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures.”

Since we first wrote about Obama’s birth certificate on June 16, speculation on his citizenship has continued apace. Some claim that Obama posted a fake birth certificate to his Web page. That charge leaped from the blogosphere to the mainstream media earlier this week when Jerome Corsi, author of a book attacking Obama, repeated the claim in an Aug. 15 interview with Steve Doocy on Fox News.

Corsi: Well, what would be really helpful is if Senator Obama would release primary documents like his birth certificate. The campaign has a false, fake birth certificate posted on their website. How is anybody supposed to really piece together his life?

Doocy: What do you mean they have a “false birth certificate” on their Web site?

Corsi: The original birth certificate of Obama has never been released, and the campaign refuses to release it.

Doocy: Well, couldn’t it just be a State of Hawaii-produced duplicate?

Corsi: No, it’s a — there’s been good analysis of it on the Internet, and it’s been shown to have watermarks from Photoshop. It’s a fake document that’s on the Web site right now, and the original birth certificate the campaign refuses to produce.

Corsi isn’t the only skeptic claiming that the document is a forgery. Among the most frequent objections we saw on forums, blogs and e-mails are:

* The birth certificate doesn’t have a raised seal.
* It isn’t signed.
* No creases from folding are evident in the scanned version.
* In the zoomed-in view, there’s a strange halo around the letters.
* The certificate number is blacked out.
* The date bleeding through from the back seems to say “2007,” but the document wasn’t released until 2008.
* The document is a “certification of birth,” not a “certificate of birth.”

Recently FactCheck representatives got a chance to spend some time with the birth certificate, and we can attest to the fact that it is real and three-dimensional and resides at the Obama headquarters in Chicago. We can assure readers that the certificate does bear a raised seal, and that it’s stamped on the back by Hawaii state registrar Alvin T. Onaka (who uses a signature stamp rather than signing individual birth certificates). We even brought home a few photographs.

The certificate has all the elements the State Department requires for proving citizenship to obtain a U.S. passport: “your full name, the full name of your parent(s), date and place of birth, sex, date the birth record was filed, and the seal or other certification of the official custodian of such records.” The names, date and place of birth, and filing date are all evident on the scanned version, and you can see the seal above.

The document is a “certification of birth,” also known as a short-form birth certificate. The long form is drawn up by the hospital and includes additional information such as birth weight and parents’ hometowns. The short form is printed by the state and draws from a database with fewer details. The Hawaii Department of Health’s birth record request form does not give the option to request a photocopy of your long-form birth certificate, but their short form has enough information to be acceptable to the State Department. We tried to ask the Hawaii DOH why they only offer the short form, among other questions, but they have not given a response.

The scan released by the campaign shows halos around the black text, making it look (to some) as though the text might have been pasted on top of an image of security paper. But the document itself has no such halos, nor do the close-up photos we took of it. We conclude that the halo seen in the image produced by the campaign is a digital artifact from the scanning process.

We asked the Obama campaign about the date stamp and the blacked-out certificate number. The certificate is stamped June 2007, because that’s when Hawaii officials produced it for the campaign, which requested that document and “all the records we could get our hands on” according to spokesperson Shauna Daly. The campaign didn’t release its copy until 2008, after speculation began to appear on the Internet questioning Obama’s citizenship. The campaign then rushed to release the document, and the rush is responsible for the blacked-out certificate number. Says Shauna: “[We] couldn’t get someone on the phone in Hawaii to tell us whether the number represented some secret information, and we erred on the side of blacking it out. Since then we’ve found out it’s pretty irrelevant for the outside world.” The document we looked at did have a certificate number; it is 151 1961 - 010641.

Some of the conspiracy theories that have circulated about Obama are quite imaginative. One conservative blogger suggested that the campaign might have obtained a valid Hawaii birth certificate, soaked it in solvent, then reprinted it with Obama’s information. Of course, this anonymous blogger didn’t have access to the actual document and presents this as just one possible “scenario” without any evidence that such a thing actually happened or is even feasible.

We also note that so far none of those questioning the authenticity of the document have produced a shred of evidence that the information on it is incorrect. Instead, some speculate that somehow, maybe, he was born in another country and doesn’t meet the Constitution’s requirement that the president be a “natural-born citizen.”

We think our colleagues at PolitiFact.com, who also dug into some of these loopy theories put it pretty well: “It is possible that Obama conspired his way to the precipice of the world’s biggest job, involving a vast network of people and government agencies over decades of lies. Anything’s possible. But step back and look at the overwhelming evidence to the contrary and your sense of what’s reasonable has to take over.”

In fact, the conspiracy would need to be even deeper than our colleagues realized. In late July, a researcher looking to dig up dirt on Obama instead found a birth announcement that had been published in the Honolulu Advertiser on Sunday, Aug. 13, 1961.

The announcement was posted by a pro-Hillary Clinton blogger who grudgingly concluded that Obama “likely” was born Aug. 4, 1961 in Honolulu.
Of course, it’s distantly possible that Obama’s grandparents may have planted the announcement just in case their grandson needed to prove his U.S. citizenship in order to run for president someday. We suggest that those who choose to go down that path should first equip themselves with a high-quality tinfoil hat. The evidence is clear: Barack Obama was born in the U.S.A.

Update, August 26: We received responses to some of our questions from the Hawaii Department of Health. They couldn’t tell us anything about their security paper, but they did answer another frequently-raised question: why is Obama’s father’s race listed as “African”? Kurt Tsue at the DOH told us that father’s race and mother’s race are supplied by the parents, and that “we accept what the parents self identify themselves to be.” We consider it reasonable to believe that Barack Obama, Sr., would have thought of and reported himself as “African.” It’s certainly not the slam dunk some readers have made it out to be.

When we asked about the security borders, which look different from some other examples of Hawaii certifications of live birth, Kurt said “The borders are generated each time a certified copy is printed. A citation located on the bottom left hand corner of the certificate indicates which date the form was revised.” He also confirmed that the information in the short form birth certificate is sufficient to prove citizenship for “all reasonable purposes.”

OK, couple if things.

1. Just because it get to conference, doesn’t mean it gets accepted. Sometimes when the justices will review and reject them just to make a point (i.e. “stop bugging us about this”)

2. The “violation of the law” at the time refers to Hawaii statue, Federal law at the time recently updated) says the following: (from Wikipeida & Cornell Law Library)

Title 8 > Chapter 12 > Subchapter III > Part I > Section 1405

A person born in Hawaii on or after August 12, 1898, and before April 30, 1900, is declared to be a citizen of the United States as of April 30, 1900. A person born in Hawaii on or after April 30, 1900, is a citizen of the United States at birth. A person who was a citizen of the Republic of Hawaii on August 12, 1898, is declared to be a citizen of the United States as of April 30, 1900.

So Mr. Obama is as natural born as they come..

Cliff,

He has not shown his birth certificate, only his cirtification of birth. That document is a computer generated doc that contains only partial iinformation. He has even refused anyone to see that actual copy of the short form that you are referring to.

To end the mystery, he needs to produce the long form (aka vault form) birth certficate. I don’t see why this should be a problem. We all have to produce this document for a number of reasons. It would end the speculation in 5 minutes.

By the way, this has nothing to do with race, it’s a constitutional question. If he shows to be eligble, then he is the president. it’s that simple. It seems most of the racial talk comes from the left, not the right. I do not know why.

Look, this is a fundamental to the Constitution. The rationale for this is simple and direct. There is no vagueness about who can run for President. The Presidential candidate must be born on U.S. soil, or U.S. territory. If one is a U.S. citizen births a child in Peru, the child is not a U.S. citizen by birth, but a Chilean citizen. No confusion was laid out by the Founding Fathers. For even more clarity…

Currently, Title 8 of the U.S. Code fills in those gaps. Section 1401 defines the following as people who are “citizens of the United States at birth:”

* Anyone born inside the United States
* Any Indian or Eskimo born in the United States, provided being a citizen of the U.S. does not impair the person’s status as a citizen of the tribe
* Any one born outside the United States, both of whose parents are citizens of the U.S., as long as one parent has lived in the U.S.
* Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year and the other parent is a U.S. national
* Any one born in a U.S. possession, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year
* Any one found in the U.S. under the age of five, whose parentage cannot be determined, as long as proof of non-citizenship is not provided by age 21
* Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time)
* A final, historical condition: a person born before 5/24/1934 of an alien father and a U.S. citizen mother who has lived in the U.S.

Anyone falling into these categories is considered natural-born, and is eligible to run for President or Vice President. These provisions allow the children of military families to be considered natural-born, for example.

So for those poor souls that say, “who cares?” Then you obviously don’t care about rules, the Constitution, or our binding laws.

Our Republic requires a relatively few rules to observe to lead our country. Either abide by them, or be removed.

And by the by, this issue is being carried through by Democrats that care about our fundamental principles outlined and crafted by our Founding Fathers.

After reading some of these postings, I am convinced that most people in this country are certified nuts… Some of you demos suggest it doesn’t matter whether or not BO is an Americam citizen and the US Constitution wording doesn’t really matter, anyway. You like him because he gives a good speech, and is the last great “hope”.??? And you are showing your ignorance if you choose to blame the repubs.. Its all of them, Clinton, Bush, the low life US House of Rats, the bureaucrats in general… Dont you know they dont really run this country??.. They are only pawnes..

And on BO’s place of birth, if you present all the known facts together, the statements from his old relatives in Kenya, the Kenyan Ambassador, what his Grand Mother stated in writting, that his brother has stated, the obvious fake birth certificate (any valid birth certificate is “CERTIFIED”, stamped with a County/State seal, and signed by a County official in the Bureau of Documents)… These evidence of proof are NOT on the democrat provided document copy..

Further more, he was not born in or on American soil, but in Kenya.. Quickly,his mother wanted to fly to America to attend fall college in Seattle.. Stopping over in Hawaii, she registered BO’s Kenyan birth cert. at Honolulu County records… In the next post, I will tell you what no one else has mentioned to prove my point… cont..

That’s a crock, Rochelle Odell. You know it’s a crock, and a false story if there ever was one. Any child who is born to at least one parent who is a natural-born or naturalized U.S. citizen, serving in the U.S. military on an overseas base or in an overseas hospital, or even in on the continential U.S. (if one parent is not a U.S. citizen) is given the option at the age of 18 to choose to be a U.S. citizen or a citizen of the country where he/she was born, or the country of the non-citizen’s birth. If the child chooses U.S. citizenship, they are declared by U.S. military court and the State Dept. as “natural-born citizen”. I know. My child was born in the U.S. Canal Zone which was a U.S. territory. My other child was born in Guantanamo Cuba. Both are legally considered natural-born U.S. citizens and, if they so chose, could run for president with no problemo. So, spare us the fables. This case against Obama is the wing-nut-right’s last attempt at treason and sedition before they are finally swept away into the dust-bin of history.

I’ve read many postings here and found many humorous. For one it isn’t about being a US Citizen, it is being a naturalized US citizen. Obama has done his darndest to keep his birth a secret. His own grandmother in Kenya states how she was so proud to see her grandson born in Kenya. There are other reports saying how his mother gave birth to him in Kenya as she was too far along in her pregnancy to fly back to Hawaii. In addition she was under the age of 19 which was the age she needed to be to have him registered in the US.

Other points are the various names Obama used throughout his life and his Indonesian citizenship that he has claimed in the past. Why do people think he made sure his college papers, and other info didn’t come out? Who is to say he didn’t get to attend college on a foreign scholarship (which would be sooo wrong) as we don’t know because he has kept this info quiet.

For those wondering, yes the Republicans did try bringing this to people’s attention but God forbid, should McCain say anything negative during the debates it was seen as attacking. People needed to learn the truth, yet Obama and the Democrats didn’t want to address those issues but skirt around them.

And here is a fact many do not know. When Obama said he was going to Hawaii to see his ailing grandmother on Oct. 23 he was not being truthful to the people. He in fact went to Hawaii with a group of lawyers as the Hawaiian Supreme Court was looking into his birth records and he wanted them sealed. FACT. Think about it, if granny was so important to him he would not have referred to her the way he did in his books. He had said she was basically white trash. In addition, if granny was so sick and important then why didn’t he take his wife and daughters to see her….which he did not do!!!

The media ran this campaign and it was a joke. Journalists from CNN, CNBC, New York Times and others have come out saying they wrote columns for Obama as they supported him, not providing an unbiased opionon like they are supposed to do. For people to blame all the crisis on Bush is wrong and shortsided. All one needs to do is look at Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae and see who benefited the most from there besides Franklin Raines (it was Barney Frank and Obama both receiving millions over time). In addition Obama’s name was on a lawsuit he presented to Citibank back in ‘98 to force them to lend to low score, low income individuals which assisted in this meltdown. Time and again the Republicans asked for some regulation only to be talked down to by the bleeding heart liberal democrats (FACT- and there is video to prove it on U-Tube).

Obama has not been honest with the American people and has something to hide. If he is found to not be eligible to be President I look for him to be removed immediately. That is the law and it should not be changed for him. It wasn’t for anyone else before him and he is nobody special.

For all those who fell for his ‘normal’ people bit, where most can’t afford luxuries he just spent $30 grand on a ring for his wife……..do normal people do that? NO!!! So many gullible people here got just what they asked for.

I hope they find his birth certificate to show he is not eligible. If they find he is eligible I will support him as my President, but there must not be any shortcuts made available for this issue!!!

The reason we are still questioning this election is simple, a cowardly and somewhat liberal media did not do their job by never investigating nor reporting on Obama’s questionable past. They never questioned him about William Ayres, never investigated his relationship with Reverend Wright, and blindly accepted a photocopy of Obama’s birth certificate while the original remains locked away unavailable to be examined. Passages from Obama’s two books which in Obama’s own words are derogatory to the white side of his heritage were never brought to the voters by a media that was almost giddy when they could report something negative against Hillary or Bill Clinton. Obama was treated as if he were the second coming, even though he had little experience and no accomplishments in his half term in the Senate, and when it became clear he would win the election and he started to backtrack on Iraq and offshore drilling no one said a word. When Congress passed the bailout package even though Obama and McCain both voted for it, only McCain received negative press. The media became consumed with appearing racist, so much so that when racism did emerge they were too cowardly to report it, I speak of the primaries where only 5% of blacks voted for Hillary Clinton, imagine the outrage if only 5% of whites voted for Obama. This election has been an eye opener for me personally, I have always been a staunch liberal Democrat, that is no longer true, I have come to realize that blacks can be just as racist as whites, and I have come to disregard what the media reports and to look for the truth.

If Obama was innocent he would show the original copy of his birth, with the name of the hospital and doctor presiding over the birth and signed with a notorized seal. Mine has one and I was born in Massachusettes. . He has not done this yet. Just one made up. I do not think this has any thing to do with being black. It has to do with the rules of the Constitution of the Uited States and so should remain so. If our Constitution is broken we will have no rules or Country to think or worry about. This must be cleared up before Obama has taken his oath. I myself believe Obama is a fraud and every one who supported him in the DNC. My thoughts are they did not want Hillary to win and went to every measure to see that she did not. Even to the measure of fraud. Only the Supreme Court can clear this up and should for the good of the people of the United States of America. That is our Constitunal right. Does every one understand that? I would hope so. We need closuure on this the right way.

The mainstream media during this election cycle were nothing but cheerleaders for Mr. Obama. There was rarely a serious question asked of him by they and their peers. I believe his executive experience is far less than that of the much-critised Sarah Palin, but look what the media tried to do to her. The agenda of the ‘main-stream media’ was to elect Mr. Obama at the cost of serious journalism.

I have to say as a “White” woman I am amazed and embarrassed by the comments of some on this thread of emails. All I can say is “Get over it already”

I was a Hillary Clinton supporter and would still vote for her today, but she did not get the nomination so I supported the next best candidate. And he won thank goodness.

Move on and find something real to fight for. Comments that blacks and hispanics do not have the ability to understand what is going on is ludicrous and shows the writers ignorance. Grow up and move on.

To be a natural born US Citizen, don’t you just have to be the offspring of a natural born citizen? Doesn’t matter where, just who? I could be wrong but that’s how I remember learning it. One parent is a citizen=offspring is citizen.
