Only time will tell, but Dick Morris contends that state and local governments will take back control of education, health care, and other issues from the Federal Government.  He believes the prime mover of this change will be the GOP gains at the state level.

Michael Steele and the Unforgivable Sin: Whining!

All, I repeat, all successful organizations I have ever been a part of had one cardinal rule: “No Whining Allowed!”

That’s because “whining” (which is nothing more than negative thinking made audible) has a powerfully destructive influence on individual and group performance…and it’s as contagious as the bubonic plague.

Michael Steele violated that rule when he (as reported by ABC News)…

played the race card today when asked on “Good Morning America” if he has a slimmer margin of error because he is African American.  “The honest answer is, ‘yes,’” he said.

Whether he spoke the truth or not is irrelevant. Whining spreads discouragement (literally, “erodes courage”) whether issued by soldiers or commanders, Indians or chiefs.

However much it is unforgivable, it is doubly so when spread by a leader, because a leader speaks with a megaphone and it is his or her example that must inspire all who follow.

And do not doubt the power of negative thinking. It can kill a powerful organization.

Oddly, its power is such that it can even be used to coalesce hugely effective destructive movements.

Consider what has been accomplished by Jeremiah Wright. Wright has built a career devoted entirely to selling weakness and defeat to his congregants…and in the process has demonstrated that people will pay handsomely to be told how pitiful is their predicament. Our own president was attracted to his paean to victimization and negativity for over 20 years.

Perhaps Steele should seek employment in an organization (like Wright’s TUCC) where he can give full voice to his sad state. But his reputation as the Chairman of the Republican National Committee has been irreparably tarnished…and he should resign!

Business losses and the Health Care Bill (and a President and Congress confused about it)

3M, John Deere, ATT, Verizon, and Caterpillar are only the first to report how much the Health Care Bill will cost them this quarter…and the President is fuming (he thinks everything in life is purely political).

Representative Henry Waxman (CA), chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, demanded that the CEO’s of ATT, Verizon, Caterpillar, and Deere provide evidence to support said losses related to the new health-care law. It was rumored that he screamed (pure scuttlebutt, of course), “we have an analysis that proves the Health Care Bill will save companies money…how dare they incur losses.”

The American Spectator reported…

“Most of these people [in the Administration] have never had a real job in their lives. They don’t understand a thing about business, and that includes the President,” says a senior lobbyist for one of the companies that announced the charge. “My CEO sat with the President over lunch with two other CEOs, and each of them tried to explain to the President what this bill would do to our companies and the economy in general. First the President didn’t understand what they were talking about. Then he basically told my boss he was lying. Frankly my boss was embarrassed for him; he clearly had not been briefed and didn’t know what was in the bill.”

So what’s on the menu today for those of us who opposed the Health Care Bill…more delicious irony?

Thoughts on Liberal and Conservatives

Thoughts on Liberal and Conservatives:

As far as I can tell, Liberals think Conservatives are stupid and Conservatives think Liberals are crazy.

And there is a very good reason for this difference of opinion.

Liberals are those adults (almost always city dwellers) who have refused to let go of their infantile Utopian ideals. Such Utopian ideals include a “soft” view of life taught by parents to very young children to shelter them from the harsh vicissitudes of life (reality, actually).

Such ideals include but are not limited to “life is fair,” “whatever you do in life you are still lovable,” “we must share with everyone else,” and the ever popular “violence never solved anything.”

Other than the fact that these ideals are not grounded in reality, there is nothing wrong with them as they apply to very small children.

The problem arises when adults adopt these ideals as reality and insist that they be codified into laws requiring us all live by them.

Liberal adherents to these ideals view adulthood and maturity as a destruction of childhood innocence (and it is) but they fail to recognize that their attempt to bend reality to their innocent, childish ideals is also an attempt to destroy the normal process of maturation into adulthood.

So there we have it.

Liberals represent a Peter Pan world in which humans never have to mature, where behavior, however much it evolves from the innocence of childhood into a bizarre permanent adolescent world of priapic exploration, hideous sexual perversion, pornography, lying, forced sharing (meaning what is yours is also mine), cultural deviance, etc., must still be accepted as if its perpetrators were innocent children.

Liberals want a world (ruled by very accepting parents) in which they are accorded the blamelessness of early childhood even though they have graduated into the libidinous and hormonally crazy world of teenagers.

Bottom line:

From the perspective of Liberals and teenagers (who would say the same thing of parents trying to teach discipline and adult values and behavior), we Conservatives are stupid…even mean. If we were enlightened and smart, we would be lenient (and let go of our silly, old-fashioned insistence on character).

But then, from a Conservative point of view, Liberals are “crazy.” Crazy because the are resisting maturity…indeed, they are resisting reality itself.
