The news of Obama’s involvement in the financial meltdown is beginning to spread

Obama’s role in helping to create this financial crisis is huge and this important fact is beginning to make its way across the country. However, hearing John McCain yesterday say that this is a time “not to point fingers, but to fix the problem” (I paraphrase), it occurred to me that Obama’s role in the subprime lending affair and its eventual impact on the financial markets is at least one of the “October Surprises”…otherwise McCain would turn both barrels on Obama right now. That is certainly one of the reasons the Democrats were so hysterical yesterday…the Republicans in Congress and the McCain camp are holding their fire until closer to the election (we saw “the whites of their eyes yesterday”).

World Phenom: President Obama rocks the U.N. (hilarious piece by Robert Ferrigno at NRO)

This is as hilarious (in its own way) as Gerard Baker’s video on Obama, “The Child, the Messiah…” (compare for yourself at link). All Robert Ferrigno has to do now is produce a Youtube video of it.

By the way, do you know the difference between Obama and a pit bull? Among other important differences, a pit bull has a better sense of humor. Ergo…Obama’s not going to appreciate this bit of down-to-earth humor about himself.

“Caribou Barbie” or how the left might drive the center to the GOP

I had long accepted that the media (except for Fox) was squarely in the Obama camp, but their wholesale (albeit ineffective) assassination of Sarah Palin was beyond shocking.

David Freddoso writes of this matter in today NRO in “Following ‘Caribou Barbie’” and Mark Silva at The Swamp takes the baton from Freddoso in “‘Caribou Barbie?’ — Sarah Palin’s bad rap.”

If this head-spinning hysteria on the part of the far left and the MSM continues unabated, many rational democrats (yes, there are a few) will head on over to the McCain-Palin ticket.

Why the Palin Baby Story Matters–to evangelical voter and others (Byron York–NRO)

Obama may have jumped out front of this issue by condemning attacks on Bristol Palin, but his devotees from the far left have again shown their true colors with their scurrilous attacks. They have again proven that there is no depth to which they will not sink to force Obama and his Marxist agenda on this nation.

But when it comes to Bristol’s pregnancy, Byron York explains why the extreme left’s actions are going to backfire.

Here’s an excerpt from the NRO (read the entire article at link)…

St. Paul — At 6:30 Monday morning, at a hotel here in St. Paul, a team of senior McCain staffers got word from even more senior staffers that there was news about vice-presidential pick Sarah Palin. Everybody had heard the rumors, spread on The Atlantic and DailyKos websites, that Palin’s fifth child, Trig, born last April, was not really hers — that Trig was really Palin’s 17 year-old daughter’s child, and Palin faked pregnancy to cover up her daughter’s condition. None of that was true, they all knew. But the top McCain staffers revealed that a story would be breaking on the wires in a few hours reporting that Palin’s daughter, Bristol, is, in fact, pregnant now. The father is Bristol’s boyfriend, the staffers were told, and she intends to marry him.

The McCain aides’ assignment was to call a list of about 40 top evangelical and other cultural conservative leaders. Each one would get a personal explanation of the story, and each was asked for his or her reaction. The McCain people reached nearly everyone before the story broke, and the verdict was unanimous — all the leaders supported Palin and her place on the McCain ticket.

Mark Steyn on Sarah Palin

No issue as potent as the Sarah Palin nod can be put to bed until Mark Steyn gives us his take (does this tiny article signal the end to his summer hiatus?).

Here’s excerpt and link to Steyn in today’s NRO

First, Governor Palin is not merely, as Jay describes her, “all-American”, but hyper-American. What other country in the developed world produces beauty queens who hunt caribou and serve up a terrific moose stew? As an immigrant, I’m not saying I came to the United States purely to meet chicks like that, but it was certainly high on my list of priorities. And for the gun-totin’ Miss Wasilla then to go on to become Governor while having five kids makes it an even more uniquely American story. Next to her resume, a guy who’s done nothing but serve in the phony-baloney job of “community organizer” and write multiple autobiographies looks like just another creepily self-absorbed lifelong member of the full-time political class that infests every advanced democracy

“Messiah In Our Midst” (Jonah Goldberg NRO)

This messianic talk ought to be funny, but no one is laughing.

Whenever I read articles like the one Jonah Goldberg just wrote (in NRO) that sifts through the downright apocalyptic language used by some of Obama’s glassy-eyed fanbois, I get a Chris Matthews tingle too. But not the kind that runs up my leg…the tingles I get are in the pit of my stomach.

Well, enough about my stomach, here’s an excerpt of the article and a link…

(excerpt from “Messiah In Our Midst”)

Obama’s apostles are hard to dismiss. Oprah simply calls him “The One,” because “we need politicians who know how to be the truth.” (Jesus says in John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth …”) Oprah goes on to say Obama will help us “evolve to a higher plane,” which would put Obama in the role of our Intelligent Designer.

According to the New York Times, Obama’s volunteers are taught to eschew discussions of the issues and instead “testify” about how they “came to Obama.”

For many, he’s no retro-redeemer, but a 21st-century savior, a Matrix-messiah and Neo for our modern-day Nineveh. Self-help guru Deepak Chopra dubs Obama “a quantum leap in American consciousness,” while prominent “leadership coach” Eve Konstantine assures us that, “He’s our product out of the all-knowing quantum field of intelligence.”

Obama willing, I will never be stuck next to these people on a plane.

Michelle Obama is arguably Obamanity’s greatest evangelist, even though she has a streak of Old Testament smiting and wrath to her. She insists her husband has redeemed the entire nation (hence her newfound pride in America). She proclaims her husband is the sort of leader who will fix our broken souls. But don’t hope for grace on the cheap. “The change Barack is talking about is hard,” she insists, “so don’t get too excited, because Barack is going to demand that you, too, be different.”
